Spring Storms

4/11/2019 (Permalink)

Call us at SERVPRO today if you home or business has been impacted with water damage from spring storms and flooding.

They are coming.

We all look forward to when those winter days fade away and spring is in the air. The only downside to the snow melting away are the spring storms. The flowers in bloom bring thunder and rain too.

The spring storms are getting closer, so the best way to prepare ourselves is with a list.

Let's get your home prepared for this spring weather.

  1.  Prepare your roof

Lightening, high winds, hail, and heavy rain can tear off shingles or drive moisture beneath them, causing further damage. Make sure shingles are securely in place and consider putting a tarp down on any areas that need extra attention during a spring storm.

     2. Gutters

Ice dams can cause build up in gutters during the winter months. To ensure that gutters are working properly make sure to reinstall or check up on gutter repair work before the spring storms begin in your area.

     3. Siding

There are variety of ways that siding can become cracked or damaged during winter months. You want to double check all of the siding on your home. If moisture gets in from damaged siding, you could bet in for wood rot, mold, or water damage when the spring rains hit.

     4.  Trees

Many homes have trees in their yards and do not even think about them once winter has passed. High wings, rain, lightening, and hail can all cause trees to split and fall on your home or garage. When a tree falls it does not just damage the outside of your home, but the inside as well. A fallen tree can bring in debris, water damage, and mold damage into your home. Make sure to trim trees back before the spring storms hit to keep the limbs from falling on your home.

Just keep these tips in mind when it comes to renovating your home this spring season. We want you to enjoy these spring months, and with peace of mind that your home is in top shape.
