Prevent Debris After Storm Damage

Wind and storm damage creates a mess by tracking debris like branches, leaves, and even shrubbery into your yard, or worse on your home, or through a window at your business. Wind can be strong enough during certain storms to bring debris into contact with your house at a powerful enough force to cause damage. Before storms and heavy rain impact your building or property, there are a few steps you can take to prevent them.

The best way to combat these damages is through prevention, here are some tips to avoid these issues:

Prune (Cut Back) your trees, shrubs, or even big plants. These can be ripped apart during storms and give you a damaged roof, window, or other problems. When a tree has a disease, is leaning, or branches are hanging out-- it can cause worse damage because it is already at risk because of these weaknesses.

Another risk is when these branches are near power lines. You want to have a professional from your city or utility company remove these prior to a storm. This keeps them healthy and less likely to break a part to create damage or cut out electricity by taking down a power line.

Wind and storm damage can happen to anyone's home or business. Try to keep the area around both cleaned up before storms to prevent flying debris, dirt, trash, or other moveable objects from damaging your property.
