Our marketing representative Morgan Blount at God's Outreach Food Pantry helping out for the day!

In early November two SERVPRO marketing team members spent a morning volunteering at a food pantry in Richmond, KY. Although, SERVPRO is a fire and water restoration company, we are honored to reach out in other areas in the community. God’s Outreach is an organization that started as a local family's dream to serve the community, and it has now become a full-fledged organization that runs on volunteers and community support. God's Outreach helps over 1,600 local families a month with food and clothing. Also, this organization has a backpack program that services over nineteen different schools in the area; they make sure children get food over weekends and holidays, when they will not be in school for meals. God's Outreach even has a senior day to reach all areas of our community. For more information on this outstanding organization, please visit their Facebook page and website.

Our winner this year: Garrard County Fiscal Court!

Pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins. We had a huge turnout for this year’s SERVPRO Spooks It Forward county wide pumpkin decorating contest.

This year, SERVPRO® of Madison, Rockcastle, Garrard, & Lincoln Counties hosted another successful pumpkin decorating contest. From insurance offices, to realtors, to city officials: our pumpkin contest raised a lot of money and awareness for local charities in the community. The winner this year was from Garrard County Fiscal Court. Their pumpkin got over 300 Facebook likes surpassing the competition. SERVPRO® of Madison, Rockcastle, Garrard, & Lincoln Counties donated $200 to the Garrard County Animal Shelter in honor of the winning office! The winners also got a Thanksgiving style lunch for their office. Thank you to everyone who participated, and we can’t wait to see all the pumpkins next year!

SERVPRO offers property owners no-cost tools for preparing a disaster readiness plan

Richmond, KY (Grassroots Newswire) <Date>—Each September, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sponsors an awareness eventNational Preparedness Month (http://www.ready.gov/September)to encourage both home and business owners to review and update their emergency preparedness and business and life continuity plans. Julie Roberts, owner of SERVPRO® of Madison, Rockcastle, Garrard, & Lincoln Counties, encourages Richmond, Berea, Lancaster, and Mt. Vernon property owners to take advantage of the information available from FEMA, because advance planning is critical in dealing with and recovering from the unexpected.

“Most home and business owners have taken basic precautions to protect life and property in the event of an emergency like flooding, fire, wind damage, or even malicious attacks,” said Roberts. “In many cases, building codes require clearly marked emergency exits, fire extinguishers, fire and flood drills, and similar preparations. But the missing link for many property owners is a comprehensive emergency plan that provides first responders with the information they need to deal with the emergency quickly and effectively, like the location of shut-off valves, fire suppression system controls, and emergency contact numbers.”

SERVPRO offers tools for both commercial and residential property owners to help address this problem. Business and home owners alike can download the free SERVPRO READY app, and store time-critical contact and property information electronically, in advance, where it can be accessed with a mobile device in seconds if disaster strikes. In addition, when a business designates their local SERVPRO Franchise Professional as their disaster mitigation and restoration provider, SERVPRO professionals will conduct a no-cost assessment of the facility and assist the owner in completing a comprehensive Emergency READY Profile® (ERP). The ERP includes information about emergency contact numbers, priority and high/risk areas, shut-off valve locations and more that can then be stored in the READY app.

“The most effective response to any emergency is a fast response,” says Roberts, “and that means having critical information available and ready to access at a moment’s notice. FEMA statistics* show that as many as 40 percent of businesses never reopen after a major flood disaster. Minimizing downtime and repairs with a quick, effective response effort can help prevent this type of outcome for businesses and can also help families put their homes and lives

back on track in less time and with less stress. Creating a READY profile in advance with SERVPRO’s no-cost tools is well worth the time.”

SERVPRO® of Madison, Rockcastle, Garrard, & Lincoln Counties specializes in disaster restoration, cleanup and repair services, helping to remediate damage, making it “Like it never even happened,” for both commercial and residential customers. SERVPRO Owner Graduates Small Business Development Class in Williamsburg, Kentucky

4/12/2016 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of Madison, Rockcastle, Garrard, & Lincoln Counties Co-Owner, Julie Roberts, earned recognition for continuing education in Small Business Leadership last month, by completing the Southeast Kentucky Economic Development’s Core Four Business Planning Course.  The four week course, held in Williamsburg, Kentucky, focused on strategic planning for small businesses.  With classes in Marketing Plan Development, Cash Flow, Operations Management, and Funding, the course helps local business owners like Roberts not only start new businesses, but develop existing ones.   Roberts, along with her husband Tony and business partner, Mike Parsons,  have three offices located in Berea, London, and Prestonsburg.  They have been in business since 2005.

“After 11 years of doing business operations on a daily basis, sometimes you forget the small planning phases that are what built your business initially,” Roberts said.  “Core Four helped me take my business back apart, re-evaluate the foundation, and set up a solid plan for our future, both short and long term.”

SKED offers many classes for small business owners throughout Eastern and Central Kentucky.  “SKED has afforded us so many opportunities with business ownership I didn’t dream were possible,” said Roberts.  “I encourage anyone interested in getting into small business ownership, or even interested in further developing what you have, to attend one of these classes.”
