In this winter season that seems straight out of Elsa’s castle, we’ve got snow and ice galore. There’s no shortage of cold weather during this winter months. We know that you do all you can to prevent those freezing and bursting pipes, but just in case –we’ve got some tips on how to handle the water damage before help arrives! Below are some ways to lessen the damage and the shock:
- Safety First- If you don’t feel safe –get out!
- Make sure to SHUT OFF the main water valve immediately. (This may be a good time to locate it before this occurs)
- Do not use TV or Household appliances or turn on ceiling fixtures when there’s water present.
- Create a barrier between the soaked carpet and furniture, and place aluminum foil under upholstery and furniture. Make sure there’s no books or magazines on the floor!
